caution 255x300 Look over you shoulder

Quick sketch of me looking over my shoulder. I’ve been down some dark alleys in my travels and have seen some pretty intense moments lurking in the shadows. It’s always good to watch your back.

mother 226x300 mother with meme

My mom has been such a wonderful example in my life. She is a very kind and warm person, with an inner strength that I have seen in very few people. She raised me to always strive for the best and I am thankful for the lessons she has taught me.

I did this sketch with crayon a few years ago but in my eyes it is timeless.

italy 300x152 Italy

This is a watercolor I did of a small Roman theater near Florence, Italy. I spent many months living and traveling throughout Tuscany. This region gave birth to the great Italian Renaissance. With all it’s natural beauty and history its easy to see why Italy has had such a huge impact on western civilization.

rise 230x300 and still I rise

The main reason that I started this blog was to gain insight on something new and to share what was created over the years. Being an artist requires focus and discipline, not to mention a sensitivity to the wave lengths that we all share. These traits are in all of us. The works flow out of the artist, but in the end it is never about the person. It is all about the work that was created.

vienna 300x215 Austria

This sketch is of a building in Vienna, down the ways from the Gustav Klimt museum. The architecture all over the city is very monumental, I was awe struck!

So much to say about Austria. To the point though, this country has some of the most friendliest people in all of Europe. Some of the finest women too; my brothers, Thomas, and I were treated like Kings. A very sublime experience indeed.

london 217x300 London

Quick gouache painting of London, England. I was on my way to view the Rembrandt Self-Portrait exhibition at the National Gallery when I took this. The infrastructure of London is very cool, everything is so energetic. The 15 or so Rembrandts  that I viewed that day was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. Simply the best.

paris 300x197 City of Lights

eiffel 203x300 City of Lights

lourve2 300x185 City of Lights

The Eiffel Tower is an amazing work of art. These three sketches were crafted quickly on the go. The first drawing was done in the Taxi, just touching down from the airport. The middle pic, is a view underneath the Eiffel Tower. Finally, the last sketch is a shot from up top looking down on the Louvre.

Sketching is always about the first impression; taking whatever inspiration you receive and going with it in a very direct manner. Be bold.

rooftop 300x223 skyline of Paris

The horizon as seen from my hotel room in Paris, France. I have been lucky enough to have visited this great city several times. I learn and see something new with each sojourn, and it is always a very rewarding experience. I’ve come into close contact with the French and have had many meaningful friendships with people that call France home. It took me awhile to understand there culture but I am really glad that I did. They have made so many contributions to the global society at large. Visiting the country always expands my world view in some way; plus the cooking is delicious!

shadow 300x206 shadow

My shadow has traveled with me high and low, good times and bad. One’s shadow has no weight or thickness to it, yet it’s there when others are not.

saturday 238x300 saturday night

Drummers circle with woman dancing to the beat. I did this sketch about 8 years ago, and still remember the intense melody the drummers were playing.
